In-N-Out Burger was founded in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder in Baldwin Park, California. The couple started with a small drive-thru burger stand, focusing on using the freshest ingredients and offering simple, quality food. Harry handled food preparation while Esther managed the books, and together they created a business model centered on customer service and quality, which remains the cornerstone of In-N-Out’s success. It was the first drive-thru in California to use a two-way speaker system, allowing customers to place orders without leaving their cars. Over the years, the family-owned business has grown into a beloved West Coast institution, famous for its fresh, made-to-order burgers and fries.
In 2010, Lynsi Snyder, the granddaughter of founders Harry and Esther Snyder, became President of In-N-Out Burger. She has upheld the family’s commitment to quality and customer service while overseeing the brand’s expansion beyond California. Despite the growth, Lynsi has remained focused on her family’s original vision: a simple menu, fresh ingredients, and exceptional service. As the sole heir, she is dedicated to preserving the legacy of In-N-Out as a family-owned business for future generations.
